Fire In The Mountains takes place in the Black Feet Nation, outside of Glacier National Park in Montana.
The fest featured powerful reunions, bands performing for the first time in 20 years, incredible collaborations and a heavy emphasis on community and the healing power of heavy music.
One such reunion was the return of Neurosis, reuniting to celebrate and perform the songs from their newest record An Undying Love For A Burning World.
Fire In The Mountains embodies the core idea presented by the title of this album to hold on to our love for this burning world fully in their partnership with the Fire Keeper Alliance a non-profit that focuses on suicide prevention and mental wellness in the indigenous community of the Blackfeet Nation.
Through creating music and cultural events like FITM and inviting the local community to take part, the Fire Keeper Alliance and the team behind Fire In The Mountains perfectly demonstrate how heavy music experiences can be vehicles for transformative change in ways I’d love to see more festivals embrace in the future.

It was a privilege and an honor to be able to witness and document this beautiful event and I hope to return for as long as the Fire In The Mountains keeps burning.
